Therapy for Eating Disorders in Lehi, Utah

There are so many misconceptions in our society about what eating disorders are, who they impact, and the functions behind the behaviors. Despite what social media may tell you, eating disorders are not about vanity. The food rules, body checking, guilt, obsessive thoughts, comparison, shame, and constant mental math around eating, exercise, or appearance can take over so much of a person’s life but that's just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. They are complex mental health conditions that often develop as a way to cope with distress, painful emotions, perfectionism, anxiety, trauma, or feeling out of control.

Recovery can feel scary, overwhelming, and honestly pretty conflicting at times. Part of you may desperately want things to change while another part feels terrified to let go of the behaviors that have helped you cope or feel safe. That internal tug-of-war is incredibly common, and you do not have to navigate it alone.

I use evidence-based eating disorder treatment approaches including CBT, ACT, DBT, RO-DBT, and exposure-based interventions to help people build flexibility around food, movement, body image, and emotions. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in helping clients reduce shame while developing practical tools to move toward recovery and a more meaningful, connected life.

This approach works well for anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, chronic dieting, body image concerns, compulsive exercise, perfectionism, OCD-related eating concerns, and disordered eating patterns.
